Back in 1995 a film was released which many believed best displayed the attraction, allure and addiction of football violence yet. It was called I.D.
The addition of I.D to the site is not one which sits well with us editorially. We feel from a Football Casual perspective this film offers very little. That may surprise some who seem to think casual simply means 'Hooligan'. Well, it doesn't.
The main problem with this film actually lies within the plot and lack of focus on detail. It was meant to be set in the early eighties when the casual movement was at its height, but rather focusing on the many brands, styles and cultural references of that time, the film was looking for pure sensationalism. Poorly choreographed scenes of violence, men fighting in club scarves and enough denim jackets to make fans of Dexys' Midnight Runners proud.
The only saving grace this film gets from us is the inclusion of Warren Clarke. Despite a very stereotypical part, he delivered menacing and chilling expertly. Sometimes class shines through shite.
