Gary 'Mani' Mounfield was born in Lancashire in 1962, and is a proud Man Utd fan. Mani is known to football and music fans alike as a likeable, down-to-earth and switched on bloke. He is of course most famous for being the bassist in two of the most influential British bands of the last two decades - 'The Stone Roses' and 'Primal Scream'.
Mani is an excellent example of a true working-class lad who has achieved international success, but at the same time has kept his feet firmly on the ground. In terms of Football Casual culture, it's no secret that Mani gets to Old Trafford as often as he can, and has a penchant for all things adidas.
It was rumored that in the early days of The Stone Roses, he and Ian Brown often frequented Europe's premier sports stores on shopping trips to get the best gear which wasn't easily available in the UK.
In our view, that's a true sign of a devoted Football fashion follower.
Whether he was ever involved with particular firms associated with Man Utd in his younger days is unknown, but is actually irrelevant. Despite his obvious success, he has kept close to his roots, and has an obvious sense of what being a Football Casual is all about.
Also musically, Mani is often overlooked by those who attempt to pin 'legend' status on signers and writers who are often not deserving of such an accolade. We believe he is one of the best bassists in British music history and should be treated so accordingly.
