So the High Street chain JD Sports are getting into bed with adidas?

There should be no shock there - it's simple market forces. A big retailer wants to do exclusive ranges to give them a competitive edge. HMV have been doing it with DVDs for years. JD obviously knows there is a strong Casual collector culture out there, desperate to get their hands on every variation of popular trainer and clothing ranges. They already have their own exclusive Forest Hills, the new Grand Slam 'Comfort' (pictured) and soon to be launched Munchens - in chocolate brown.
As a sub-culture which prides itself on purist aspirations, is JD damaging the collector culture of the football casual - particularly with adidas re-issues? After all, what joy is there wearing trainers that any sap can pick up on the High Street? In my view - there isn't.
It's not all bad though. If you are a collector, you will collect. You can avoid wearing them for a year or so until they have fully disappeared from JD's stock list. After all, Parrot Heads would have moved onto a new pair of K-Swiss by then. I see no harm in boosting your collection for the long-term. No-one said you have to wear them straight away. My advice, use JD if you want to increase your collection - but don't wear them. Well, not until enough time as passed anyway. I bought an adidas marseille windrunner jacket, proper old school. Straight on a hanger to the back of the cupboard until enough time has passed. I felt dirty buying it, but it looked great and I know it will look great again in year or so time.
What do you reckon?
